Progress on Bolton interchange

Work is underway on Bolton Interchange, which will replace the existing Moor Lane bus station. The new site should provide improved waiting areas, passenger facilities, information, safety and security including a cycle hub, retail outlet, shop mobility and modern public toilets with a baby change facility. It will directly connect bus and rail services via a skylink pedestrian bridge, improving the links between them as well as access to the town centre. Innovative sustainable energy initiatives include rainwater recycling to flush the toilets, solar panels, air source heat pumps and low-energy LED lighting. The £48m scheme is being funded by the Greater Manchester Transport Fund and is due to open late 2016.
