Perrymans on the path to expansion
Perrymans Buses has expanded its services with a new depot using funding from the Bank of Scotland. The investment comes in the operator’s 40th year of business. It sees the company retain route 67 and the acquisition of route 60 (Galashiels, Duns and Berwick), route 51 and 52 (linking Kelso and Jedburgh with Lauder and Edinburgh), route 68 between Jedburgh and Galashiels and the Sunday services on route 20 between Kelso and Harwick. These additions gave the company the opportunity to open the second depot, which is located in St Boswells. The operator bought 12 new Optare Versas for use from this new site, which were delivered within a ten week period. It was the company’s largest ever order. Powered by Cummins ISBe six-cylinder engines, the buses feature leather seats, audio visual next stop announcement equipment, wood effect flooring and nine camera CCTV.
