The One turns one

First Glasgow is to celebrate The One service’s first birthday by giving away 250 party bags to customers. Passengers will also be given vouchers to save money when travelling by bus, as well as the chance to win prizes including an iPad mini, shopping vouchers and an overnight stay for two. The One, connecting Helensburgh, Balloch, Dumbarton, Clydebank, Scotstoun and Glasgow, has had its frequency boosted to run up to every five minutes and offers free on-board wi-fi. First’s marketing team recently won the ‘Excellence in marketing and travel information’ award at the National Transport Awards for implementing a range of marketing initiatives designed to improve the customer experience on ‘The One’. Marketing activity kicked off in November 2012 following First Glasgow’s £6m investment in 40 specially branded new buses, all of which operate on The One and are fitted with leather seats. The company’s next marketing initiative for The One will feature drivers on its bus backs.

First Glasgow’s MD, Fiona Kerr, said, ‘We are delighted to mark the first year of this service which is proving to be increasingly popular with local residents. So much so that we recently boosted the frequency further with new service 1C which provides a direct service between Drumchapel, Garscadden and the City Centre. The service has gone from strength to strength in just 12 months, I’d like to thank all of our employees for their hard work and dedication over the past year.’
