November registration rise

Bus and coach registrations in November rose 8.4% from the same month last year to 681 units, the month’s highest total since 2007. This lead to a rolling year total of 8,874, up 18%. SMMT Chief Executive, Mike Hawes, said, ‘Although November saw more moderate growth than in previous months, the UK bus and coach market remains on track for a strong year. One of the year’s big performers, converted buses weighing 3.5t to 8.5t, fell by a third in the month – but with double digit growth across all other key market segments, the situation remains positive.’

There were 83 purpose built coaches registered, a 69.4% increase, making for a rolling year total of 1,009, up 10.3%. Converted bus registrations totalled 306, down 22.7%, with a rolling year figure of 4,999, up 25.9%.
