Nottingham Community Transport will be deploying its fleet of electric buses on a dedicated shuttle service to and from Showbus 2016 on 25 September at Donington Park. It will run from East Midlands Parkway to the showground every 20 minutes, starting at 09.20 and operating until 12.20, then resuming from 13.40 until 16.40. Return journeys from Donington Park to East Midlands Parkway are to run every 20 minutes between 09.40 and 12.40 and then from 14.00 to 17.00.
General Manager of Nottingham CT, Ian Combellack, said, ‘This is also a great opportunity to demonstrate that electric buses are as reliable, if not more so, than a diesel bus and are cheaper to operate, given the lower actual running costs. We can’t wait to celebrate our electric debut for the event at Donington Park in the heart of the East Midlands.’
A spokesperson for Donington Park said, ‘At Donington we are very keen to promote new technology, especially electric power with our relationship with the Formula E Championship, so we are pleased to hear that there will be a large display of electric buses courtesy of Nottingham Community Transport.’
