New Years Honours

A number of people involved in the transport industry were recognised in the New Years Honours. Amongst them were Stephen Leonard Gooding, lately Director General, Roads, Traffic and Local Group, DfT and Clare Moriarty, lately Director General, Rail Executive, DfT, who both received a Companion of the Order of the Bath accolade for services to the transport industry. A CBE went to Lucy Nicola Shaw, CEO Highspeed 1 and lately Non-Executive Director, Aer Lingus Plc.

Geoffrey Wilfred Allister, Executive Director, Highway Term Maintenance Association, was given an OBE for services to highway engineering in Northern Ireland. For services to public transport, Head of Strategy, Enterprise and Environment, Cornwall Council, Nigel Blackler, received an OBE as did Director, Asset Management, TfL, Danielle Skelley. Scottish Leather Group Chairman, Andrew Muirhead, received an OBE for services to the leather industry. The Group comprises a number of companies, including Andrew Muirhead & Son Ltd, which produces leather for public transport applications.

An MBE went to Edwina Edwards, Chief Executive, Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport, for services to the community in Derbyshire. Another MBE recipient was John Iain Barrowman, Cummins Vice President High Horsepower Operations and a senior Director of Cummins Ltd. He was awarded the honour in recognition of his contribution to British industry having overseen the development of Cummins UK operations into a world class centre of manufacturing excellence, enabling a major growth in export business, which represented 78% of total sales in 2014.

MBEs also went to Kim Wolff for public services to road safety and John Fraser Worthington, Director, Academy of Urbanism and Commissioner, ITC, for services to urban regeneration and voluntary services to transport.

Janice Catherine Davidson, Personal Assistant to Chief Operating Officer, Translink, received a Medalist of the Order of the British Empire for services to public transport in Northern Ireland.
