New laden testing starts

New rules on bringing laden vehicles for driving tests in some categories have come into effect. Laden vehicles must now be brought for D1+E (minibus and trailer) and D+E (bus or coach and trailer) driving tests. DSA and VOSA Chief Executive, Alastair Peoples, said, ‘These tests become more realistic as they assess drivers driving loaded vehicles and trailers. This benefits road safety and responds to industry calls for training and testing to better prepare drivers for the reality of driving heavier vehicles once they pass. It’s one example of how we work to improve the driving test; ensuring it maintains its relevance and integrity in the wider interests of road safety.’
