New CityZap unveiled

Transdev’s new CityZap service between York and Leeds is to launch on Easter Sunday. It will run every 30 minutes between the two cities, with the last buses at weekends running as late as 03.00. Sat-nav technology, called ZAP-nav by the operator, is to be used by the dedicated team of drivers to ensure they always choose the quickest route with the least congestion. The refurbished Volvo B7 Wrightbus Geminis, previously on the 36 route, have leather seats, USB power points and free 4G Wi-Fi. In its first week of operation a range of offers will be made on CityZap, including any ride for just £1 to all customers until 2 April. Free travel will be available through April for those who hold a valid rail ticket between the two cities. Students are also able to take advantage of a £1 fare until the end of April. A Cityzap tracking app is also due for release.

Essentially, often what they expect from their car, except we are giving them more. In CityZap we believe we have met and exceeded their aims, with a very powerful alternative for the motorist, given the use of sat-nav and empowering our drivers to decide the quickest route every time. Rail users are also likely to see the benefits of more personal space and fares at better than half the price of a peak rail journey. It is this pioneering overall service design, wrapped in an energetic and vibrant brand, that will enable us to really challenge the way people perceive bus travel.’
