NCT forecasts benefits thanks to junction completion

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is predicting significant benefits to customers on its popular Turquoise Line 77 as a result of the road changes brought about by the recent completion of Aspley Lane junction in Nottingham. In September, NCT enhanced its Turquoise 77 service to run from every six minutes during daytime, making it one of the most frequent end to end routes in the country. They also improved evening services to every 15 minutes and Sunday daytime buses to every ten minutes. Plans are underway to introduce new double deckers fitted with Wi-Fi capability on this service early next year.

NCT Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith, said, ‘This is a very busy area of the city and at peak times it used to be particularly difficult for our buses to pull out and manoeuvre around the roundabout. The original roundabout has now been replaced by a signalled junction, enabling our Turquoise Line 77 buses to cross it in a much easier and safer way. The Aspley Lane improvements will really help us maintain and potentially improve our reliability on this very frequent service, as the time our buses will be waiting at the junction will reduce. Nottingham City Council has managed the works very well, and we’re really pleased that they’ve had minimum impact on our services throughout.’
