MAN profit improves

During the first half of 2016, MAN Group’s order intake in the first six months of 2016 was €7.4bn/£6.26bn, with sales revenue at €6.4bn/£5.42bn. In the first half of 2016, the manufacturer’s operating return on sales increased to 3.7%, after 0.2% in the prior year period. Its operating profit amounted to €236m/£199.76m in the first six months of 2016 (2015: €15m/£12.7m). MAN Group’s total profit before tax amounted to €156m/£132.04m in the first six months. The profit after tax was €16m/£13.54m.

Order intake at MAN Truck & Bus rose year-on-year to €5,250m/£4,443.81m in the first half of 2016 with sales revenue at €4,443m/£3,760.74m. At €268m/£226.85m, operating profit in the first half of 2016 was significantly higher than the prior year figure before special items (€121m/£102.42m). This corresponds to an operating return on sales of 6% (previous year: 2.8%).

CEO of MAN SE, Joachim Drees, said, ‘This is mainly attributable to a considerably improved operating profit at MAN Truck and Bus. Apart from higher volumes and improved margins, the future growth program launched in the previous year also had a significant effect.’
