Malta invests in Otokar

Malta Public Transport has invested in 33 new Otokar Kent C buses adding to the 143 Otokar Vectio C delivered from September 2015. The new 12m buses are designed to carry more people than the previous 9m versions and will be servicing the busiest routes. The 33 Euro6 Kent C right hand drive buses are fully air conditioned and low floor. They are powered by six-cylinder Cummins ISB6.7E6280B engines coupled to Voith Diwa 854.6 automatic transmission. Their seating capacity is 37 plus 56 standing and one wheelchair (or four foldable seats).

Chairman of Malta Public Transport, Felipe Cosmen, said, ‘We are proud to say that Malta now has one of the youngest bus fleets in Europe, with an average age of just over three years, while the average in Europe is over nine years. Almost half of our fleet is now less than one year old, with Euro6 engines. We are setting new standards for environmentally friendly transport and contributing to cleaner air.’
