Kinchbus launches student bus/train ticket

Kinchbus and East Midlands Trains have teamed up to launch a new ticket for Loughborough University students. The combined bus and rail ticket adds the bus operator’s ‘sprint’ route to East Midlands Trains tickets. It is priced at £1.30 for an adult day single fare and is available when buying train tickets online or at the station. ‘sprint’ runs every ten minutes between the trains, town centre and university, with buses running until as late as 04:30 from the end of September. East Midlands Trains has also recently installed a ticket collection machine at Loughborough University, allowing students to book their tickets online and collect them before catching ‘sprint’ to get to the station. Kinchbus is based in Loughborough and is owned by the Wellglade Group, which also owns trentbarton.

Commercial Director of Kinchbus, Alex Hornby, said, ‘We’ve been running “sprint”, the main bus route from the train station to town and university, for many years now, but are always on the look out to improve things further for customers and those joining us from the rail network. This new partnership between Kinchbus and East Midlands Trains, and the new all-in-one ticket, will really improve usability across both modes of transport. It complements the ten minute frequency, and the forthcoming introduction of free on board WiFi and later buses perfectly.’
