Ken Grindrod retires

Sales Director at Castleford based Pelican Engineering, Ken Grindrod, has retired. He worked for the company, which supplies the Yutong coach range amongst other CVs, for 38 years. Taking over his responsibilities will be Bob Elliot, who has worked alongside Ken for over 32 years.

Ken’s first real introduction to the coach sales world came in 2012 when Pelican engineering opened up its Pelican Bus and Coach Sales operation. It was originally set up to handle the import and sale of BMC buses and coaches. However, following the cessation of production at BMC, the company changed to selling Yutong caoches. Bob reports that sales of these Chinese built PCVs have passed the 150 mark in the UK recently. The company plans to expand with a new show room dedicated to these vehicles. Since taking on coach sales, Bob said he and Ken ‘fell in love with’ the industry, likening coach operators to the truck operations they were so fond of in the 80s, many of which were family operations too.
