Good start for MAN

MAN has had what it described as a successful start to 2014, winning a number of major orders including around 500 buses. Key contracts include 106 Lion’s City buses for Volánbusz Zrt in Hungary, 64 Lion’s City buses for Austrian operator Dr. Richard, 181 Lion’s City buses for Keolis Sverige AB, 20 Lion’s City LE solo buses and 20 Lion’s City GL articulated buses to the Estonian capital’s transportation operator Tallinna Linnatranspordi AS (TLT), as well as a £13.4m/€16m order from Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) of Germany. The Keolis Sverige AB order includes 52 hybrids for service in Stockholm and the surrounding suburbs. They will be delivered from June 2014 by Swedish importer Svenska Neoplan AB, who will also be responsible for their servicing and maintenance. A number of the 2014 MAN orders have already been delivered, including 15 for Nuremberg and 45 Lion’s City G articulated buses put into operation at the start of February by Düsseldorfer Rheinbahn AG.

Chief Executive Officer of MAN SE, Dr. Georg Pachta-Reyhofen, said, ‘The orders are a sign of confidence. Customers value the quality, reliability and cost effectiveness of our products. We have the right solutions to benefit from the global trend toward economical and eco-friendly vehicles and plants.’
