Geldards fire update

A fire that broke out at Geldards Coaches’ site in Leeds recently (see B&CB 1340, 14 August 2015) has completely destroyed the workshop and garage area, according to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services. The site consisted of three bays with an inspection pit in each. There were a coach and two buses in the bays, all of which were destroyed by the flames. The cause of the fire was due to molten metal produced whilst plasma cutting, which fell onto accumulated grease, oil and dust, which then ignited and spread. The fire service said the blaze developed rapidly due to the close proximity of other oil products, including an oil fired heater and an adjacent oil storage tank.
