First’s new Falkirk ticket trial

A new bus ticket and zone for Falkirk is to be trialled by First Midland Bluebird. At £4.50, the new Falkirk First Day ticket offers significantly cheaper travel for those living in areas around the town and there will be a Falkirk First Week ticket priced at £15. First said this brings ‘massive reductions’ for a ‘vast number’ of passengers, in some places over £10 per week cheaper than before. The biggest savings will be for residents in Banknock where the current prices will be more than halved. The new tickets will be valid throughout the Falkirk Council area with the exception of Bo’ness. The new tickets are currently planned to be available until 31 August via First’s M-ticket app and from the bus driver when boarding the bus.

MD of First Midland Bluebird, Paul McGowan, said, ‘Customers have been asking for simplified fares and cheaper travel in the Falkirk area, and that’s exactly what we’re delivering. Late last year we promised we’d look at the differences in price between some of our operating areas in and around Falkirk and this one zone, one ticket option gives our customers the parity they asked for. We’re trialling this new zone and price until August for now to encourage more passengers to get onboard with us and we hope to bring it in permanently if it proves successful.’
