First short listed for employee engagement award

First Bus has been short listed in two categories at the 2016 National Employee Engagement Awards, which recognises the very best people focused organisations.

Bolton Bus driver, Tony Clegg, who last year became the elected Employee Director for First Manchester, was short listed for the Unsung Hero award after he breathed new life and focus into the role, including starting First Bus’ first blog.

The team responsible for the company’s first UK-wide employee awards has been short-listed in the ‘Project of the Year – Enterprise’ category, alongside companies such as Tesco, BMW and Canon. The team masterminded three high profile events in Stirling Leeds and Reading to recognise and reward colleagues from Penzance to Aberdeen, across all disciplines.

MD of First Bus, Giles Fearnley said, ‘I’m delighted that both Tony and the event team have been recognised externally at the Employee Engagement Awards. We’re really focused at First Bus on improving engagement with our employees and I’m therefore very pleased we’re in the running for such high profile national awards.’
