First launches 16 StreetLites

First has introduced 16 new Wrightbus StreetLite MicroHybrids in Tameside, Greater Manchester. The new buses each cost £150,000, are fitted with Euro5 engines and the manufacturer says they are 30% more fuel efficient. The interiors have been designed to make the bus journey as relaxing and convenient as possible, with features such as increased legroom and leather seats. The buses are being used on the service 348 (Carrbrook – Ashton via Demense Drive) and service 350 (Oldham – Ashton). First has worked with one of the communities on the 348 route, Copley Residents Association, to introduce these smaller and more environmentally friendly buses.

Business Manager for First in Tameside, Dave Leonard, said, ‘These buses deliver the latest energy saving benefits as well as a great travelling experience for our customers. We were delighted to work with the local community to introduce these buses with the latest luxury interiors.’
