First in employee awards

First Bus has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2017 National Employee Engagement Awards. Employee Director at First Essex, Anthony Green, has been shortlisted for the ‘Unsung Hero’ accolade after he ‘breathed new life and focus’ into the role. Anthony is also a bus driver and set up his own blog to help keep his colleagues up to date. Secondly, an app introduced at First Bus’s Aberdeen business to improve communication has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Tech’ category. There are plans to roll out a similar version of the app across FirstGroup.

This is the third consecutive year First Bus has been tipped for success at the Employee Engagement Awards. In 2015 Joanna Spagnol, Team Performance Manager at First Manchester, won the Unsung Hero Award, while Joy Devine, Operations Manager at Rotherham, was Highly Commended in the Leader of the Year category. In 2016, Leeds Bus Driver, Tony Clegg, was Highly Commended for the Unsung Hero prize, while the First Bus events team was shortlisted in the Projects of the Year category for their colleague ‘Excellence Awards’. The 2017 Employee Engagement Awards will be held on 26 January at Wembley Stadium, London.
