Fire strikes another Western Greyhound premises

Another fire has started at Western Greyhound affecting the company’s Liskeard outstation. It follows the inferno at its Summercourt site last year that destroyed a third of its fleet. Three buses were destroyed in this latest blaze, according to press reports. Three fire fighting appliances, two from Liskeard and one from Callington, attended the fire at Trevecca industrial estate at around 6.50 on 24 January 2014. Fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and one jet to extinguish the inferno. Arson is suspected and at the time of going to press the police were investigating.

Following the fire, Western Greyhound operated a full Saturday service on 593 through Liskeard. There was also a modified Sunday timetable on service 573 from Polperro and Looe with extensions to Callington from Liskeard every two hours. A full normal Monday to Saturday timetable was running in the Liskeard area this week.
