Express City Connect celebrates decade

Stagecoach East Scotland has celebrated ten years of Express City Connect. The brand represents all the coaches operating on express routes across Fife and to destinations such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee. The Express City Connect branding used on the coaches was created in October 2007 to coincide with an investment of over £4.5m in new coaches to operate across the region. The service has grown from carrying 72,000 passengers per week on express services to 100,000.

Over the last ten years, Stagecoach have spent over £21m to upgrade the coach fleet each year, with vehicles featuring free wifi access, mobile device charging points, leather seats, air-conditioning and some have a toilet. The latest investment saw six new coaches introduced to the fleet earlier this month. With an investment of almost £2m, four of the vehicles now operate on the X24 route linking Fife to Glasgow Airport and the other two vehicles are used on express routes to Edinburgh where additional capacity was required. The company is marking the tenth anniversary by creating a calendar, featuring photos of Express City Connect coaches over the last decade, which will be available for sale next month. Stagecoach employees have been invited to submit photos for inclusion in the calendar and all proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
