Defibrillator first for City Direct

Galway based City Direct has announced the introduction of mobile defibrillators on their National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) Park & Ride shuttle buses. Since 2009, the vehicles have been used to run a service to and from the college for more than 17,500 students and 2,000 staff members. It has just installed the life saving equipment on two of its buses and plans to roll it out to the rest of its fleet in 2014. This also means that every City Direct driver will be first aid trained. The operator believes no other bus companies are doing this in Ireland at present. City Direct is currently the largest bus operator outside public service provider
 Bus Eireann.
