CPT’s Brexit survey

CPT has revealed the results of its online survey of members’ priorities for changes post Brexit. Of highest priority was the introduction of a more flexible system of drivers’ hours and records, with 37% of respondents saying this was the most pressing change required. In joint second place, both with 20%, was making a car driving licence a provisional licence for PCVs and ‘other’ priorities. With 13% of the votes was the notion of breaking the link between financial standing and the Euro. Last place was the abolishment of the Driver CPC, with 10% of the votes. The results of the survey will be considered by CPT’s Council in its first meeting of 2017. The organisation is to use this information in discussions with DfT.

The Council has already endorsed a set of core priorities: the right to take tourists into and around Europe, the right to operate regular services across the EU and beyond, the right to bid for contracts to run buses, trains and trams in EU member states, the right to operate a two axle coach at 19.5 tonnes in the UK, the right of citizens from the current EU states to live and work in the UK and the right of UK citizens to travel into Europe without needing a visa.
