Castleford bus station start

Construction of Castleford’s new bus station has started. Being built on the site of its now demolished predecessor, it has been described as ‘state of the art’ by Metro, the West Yorkshire transport authority. Some diversions have been put in place to make way for the building work on the £6m redevelopment.

Combined Authority Transport Committee Chair, Cllr James Lewis, said, ‘Castleford’s new bus station will have the kinds of features people have come to expect from bus stations across West Yorkshire. It will have an enclosed waiting area, CCTV coverage, real-time information displays and public toilets and will result in the creation of improved links with the town’s rail station.’
