‘Busboost’

As part of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s (SYPTE) Inmotion sustainable travel project, Meadowhall Shopping Centre staff have joined in with the 28 day ‘Busboost’ scheme. It sees over 300 employees receive free travel on any bus, train or tram across South Yorkshire. The initiative is part of the DfT’s £24.6m Local Sustainable Transport Fund in the county. Its aim is to help local businesses to make the journey to work easier, healthier, cheaper and faster.

SYPTE Deputy Interim Director General, David Young, said, ‘Busboost has already encouraged over 5,800 employees across South Yorkshire to try travelling to work by public transport. Travelling by public transport is not only better for the environment but can be a healthier option too, when exercise through journeys to and from the bus and tram stop or train station is taken into account. We are excited to continue to work hard with local businesses, offering support and training that can help staff move their commute away from the car and give public transport, walking and cycling a go – in a bid to make getting to work simple and stress free.’
