BBA framework published

DfT has published a document outlining the framework of how Better Bus Areas (BBAs) should be monitored and evaluated. Behind the development of this framework are three principles: adopting a light-touch resource efficient approach to monitoring; collaborative working across local authorities, government departments, academics and other organisations; and developing the evidence base to inform future local and national decision making. All BBAs will be expected to complete annual reports, outlining where investments have been made and what the outcomes were. The Areas are expected to deliver monitoring programs within their governance arrangements. The DfT is to undertake an evaluation into the impacts of the BBAs, looking into the impacts of different types of scheme interventions. It will also examine the affect of partnership arrangements between local authorities and bus operators.
