Arriva SC extends M-Ticket

Arriva Southern Counties has extended its M-Ticket scheme to the Maidstone Park & Ride services. It now means customers using the services that run from three out-of-town car parks into the town centre can buy their day, weekly, four-weekly and twelve-weekly tickets using their mobile phones. The company uses a fleet of five VDL Bus SB200 Wrightbus Commander vehicles to run the services, which are operated on behalf of Maidstone Borough Council. Nationally, Arriva was the first of the major groups to introduce ‘M-tickets’ and has seen a continual increase in the number of people buying network tickets via their mobiles.

Arriva’s Regional Publicity Manager, Richard Lewis, said, ‘The range of tickets available has been adjusted to fit in with our online kiosk and a new four-weekly ticket has been introduced. Sales of M-tickets for Park & Ride have taken off immediately and we expect growth as regular customers realise the benefits of buying their tickets online and via their phone.’
