Arriva bids farewell to Burton

Arriva has bid farewell to its Burton operations, thanking staff and customers for their support over the years. The operator has sold the majority of its network in the town to Midland Classic, signing the deal in April this year (see B&CB 1393, 26 August 2016). The operations transferred on 27 August. Many of the company’s local employees moved over to work with Midland Classic following the transfer.

Arriva’s Area MD, Simon Mathieson, said, ‘We have enjoyed many successful years operating from the Wetmore Road depot and are proud to have played such a pivotal role in the local community. Our local team have been exemplary throughout this transition, and whilst we are sorry that they will no longer be part of the Arriva family moving forwards, we are sure that they will be a credit to Midland Classic, and will continue to maintain the high service standards that we know and appreciate them for.’
