More Air Deckers

RATP Group owned Bath Bus Company has added more buses to double the frequency of its Air Deckers A4 Airport service from Bath to Bristol Airport to every 30 minutes during the day time. The service also serves Saltford, Keynsham and South Bristol on a route which takes advantage of bus priorities and dual carriageways to ensure swift journey times. The new Volvo buses (one Wrights Gemini and two MCVs) feature onboard audio bus stop announcements, passenger information screens and provision for large luggage items. A new website (www.airdecker.com) has been launched, which will include online booking facilities, links to real time movement of buses and current flight departure and arrival information. In addition to advanced bookings online, cash fares can be paid on the bus in either Sterling or Euros.

MD, Martin Curtis, said, ‘It is just two years since this service was first introduced when we identified a need for a direct link from Bristol Airport to the World Heritage City of Bath. The public response has been fantastic, much of the credit for which must go to our staff who are constantly praised by passengers for their helpful and welcoming attitude.
The service doesn’t follow the course of any other bus route so it doesn’t directly compete with other airport links, and since Bristol Airport itself is growing steadily, we are simply meeting a new demand. The service also carries local passengers as we have created new links between south Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset which has cut journey times for some and given others new employment opportunities. We are hoping for additional bus stops in the South Bristol area and are currently conducting lengthy discussions with Bristol City Council.’
