42 Volvos for Translink

Northern Irish transport operator, Translink, has ordered 42 Wrightbus bodied Volvo B5TL double deckers. They are for use on its Metro Services operating in the Belfast area. The vehicles are expected to provide reduced maintenance costs and dramatically lower emissions.

Translink General Manager, Bus Services, Ciaran Doherty, said, ‘We’re pleased to place the order for 42 new Volvo buses which will allow us to maintain high standards terms of quality and comfort for our Belfast customers. In addition we believe these will be amongst the first vehicles in Northern Ireland to meet the latest Euro6 emission standards making them some of the most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly buses in the region. With much lower air quality emissions this is good news for Belfast, helping to improve the overall local air quality and providing a healthier environment for all. Together with great value fares, these new buses will allow us to build on our success by attracting even more customers to travel more sustainably and take advantage of the convenience, comfort and cost savings available with local bus travel.’
