110 years of Harrogate Bus Company

Transdev owned The Harrogate Bus Company is holding a 110th birthday party on 7 August. The business and its direct predecessors have been running bus services in the town and surrounding areas since 1906. The event will be held at the company’s Starbeck Depot in Harrogate from 10.00 until 16.00 and there will be lots of great entertainment, including vintage bus rides between Harrogate and Knaresborough, vehicle displays, live music, stalls, fairground rides, food and refreshments. Money raised at the event will go to the company’s charity of the year, Candlelighters. The Harrogate Bus Company has a fleet of 72 buses and 171 employees. It also owns, manages and maintains Harrogate Bus Station. This year, it has invested over £3.4m on improving local bus services in the town, with a new fleet on the 36 and revitalised buses along the Knaresborough Road.

CEO at Transdev, Alex Hornby, said, ‘110 years of bus operation, and the contributions of so many people throughout the years, is something worth celebrating with everyone across our local communities. We know that so many people are just as proud as we are of our splendid town and glorious county, so it is really fitting that we all come together to help celebrate our history of serving here and everyone’s welcome.’
